In just 3 more days, we are off to Sardinia — an island filled with gorgeous beaches, breathtaking vistas and fabulous food — and we couldn’t be more excited. It will be the second visit for my husband and I, who flew there on a whim eight years ago via Ryanair from Barcelona for about 18GBP per ticket. In many ways, that was the trip that started it all, kicking off our long-term love affair with travel.
Back then we were total rookies. We showed up with big dreams and not much else. No car rental reservations, which proved to be very difficult resulting in an all-day search for what seemed to be the island’s only automatic. No hotel reservations for the second half of our stay, with very romantic intentions of road-tripping the northern coast and deciding spur of the moment where to stop in for the night.
All in all, we still had a fantastic time and that trip has gone down in history as one of our all-time favorites.
This time will of course be different. We are bringing along 3 year old Jake! We’ve gone ahead and planned out all the details ahead of time, but are still attempting a very ambitious itinerary with stops in Arzachena, Santa Maria Navarrese, Oliena, Alghero, Bosa, Oristano and the Maddalena Islands.
Follow along on instagram, facebook and twitter as we splash from beach to beach, take family selfies on boats and stuff our faces at all the island’s best agriturismos over the next two and a half weeks. See you in September!
